For those of us in churches, Christmas is a strategic time for outreach to our community. People may be more open to discussing God than at other time of the year! Yet it can be hard to go beyond the shepherds and the manger to address the deeper truths of Christmas. After all, the Almighty wrapped in flesh; God living and dying on earth to save us from ourselves—those are difficult truths to comprehend.
That’s why Drama by George and the Highland Vineyard Church are producing a touring dramatic production, Christmas Presence, in December. This contemporary Nativity play is firmly rooted in the Gospel narratives, but also re-imagines the very human events of Christ’s birth as though they happened in 2008!
When our team performs the play for some ministries, it's “self-supporting”—that is, the host organization covers our costs, from gas money to building the set to paying the actors. But we also strive to offer the performance to organizations that simply can’t afford the costs—such as very small churches, or organizations like Wayside Christian Mission (the site of a 2007 performance), which provides vital services to homeless families in Louisville.

Your gift of $300 will cover our expenses in full for one performance, and you’ll also receive a personal acknowledgement in our program. Your gift of any amount will help to sponsor a performance for an organization that needs your support.
