About George Halitzka

George Halitzka is the creative force behind Drama by George. You can call him a theatre artist, writer, or educator–but first and foremost, he’s a storyteller.

George believes wholeheartedly in the power of a well-told story to delight, engage, and transform. He’s brought his high-energy performances to over 10,000 children and teens as a speaker and storyteller. His Stories Alive! and What a Character programs keep kids laughing as they learn life-changing character education values. He’s performed throughout the Louisville area and beyond at schools, community centers, camps, churches, libraries, and just about every place that youth gather.

George has taught drama workshops to thousands of people, from kids who have never been onstage before to seasoned adult actors. He’s a featured artist in the Kentucky Arts Education Showcase, and a member of the Kentuckiana Cultural Consortium, the Theatre Alliance of Louisville, and Christians In Theatre Arts (CITA). A frequent presenter at regional drama ministry events, like the Kentucky Creative Ministries Festival and the Karitos Arts Conference, George is also an experienced theatrical director. Favorite projects include Christmas Presence (Drama by George, Louisville), The Ranger Ned Story (Pacific Theatre, Vancouver, BC), Juvie (Palace Youth Theatre, Cleveland), Crucifix (Drama Inc., Chicago), and The Father’s Gift (Parkview Church, Iowa City, IA).

One-act plays written by George are available from Contemporary Drama Service and Playscripts, Inc.; his shorter works have been published by Lillenas Drama and Drama Ministry. George’s scripts have also been honored multiple times in the CITA National Playwriting Contest. His writings about theatre have appeared in publications including Christianity and Theatre, LillenasDrama.com, and Ministry Today.
